OCT Scans

See inside the retina & prevent small problems becoming big ones

The Power of OCT Technology

Discover What Lies Beneath the Surface of Your Eyes

OCT scans create a highly detailed, 3D image of the inside of your eye, revealing structures that are invisible to the naked eye.

This enables our opticians to spot even the subtlest signs of potential problems before they impact your vision.

FAQs

Regarding OCT Scans at Orrell Opticians.

If you have any further questions

Is there any preparation needed for an OCT scan?

No special preparation is required for an OCT scan. The process is quick, non-invasive, and completely painless. In some cases, we may need to dilate your pupils with eye drops to get a better view of the inside of your eye.

Are there any risks associated with OCT scans?

No, OCT scans are entirely safe and do not pose any known risks to your eye health. The technology uses low-intensity light waves to create detailed images of your eye. It's a risk-free way to gain valuable insights into your eye health.

Is the cost of an OCT scan covered by Eyeplan?

Yes, the cost of an OCT scan is fully covered by your Eyeplan membership, including follow up scans. With Eyeplan, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with access to advanced eye care technology without worrying about additional out-of-pocket expenses.

How much is an OCT scan?

At Orrell Opticians, we offer a complete OCT assessment for just £35, which is x3 scans per eye. x3 scans per eye is the correct way to OCT scan an eye and for long term eye protection. Investing in an OCT scan is a small price to pay for the invaluable information it provides about your eye health.

What is the difference between an Optomap scan and an OCT scan?

Optomap scans offer a wide, surface-level view of your retina.

OCT scans provide a deep, detailed look at the individual layers within your macula and optic nerve.

Often, both scans are used together to give your us the most comprehensive understanding of your eye health.
